This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about my students is their resilience and determination. They show up every day, ready to learn, despite the challenges many face outside of school. Their spirit, curiosity, and kindness inspire me constantly. My students come from diverse backgrounds, and for many, school is the one place where they feel safe, supported, and valued.
However, many of my students lack access to basic hygiene products at home—items like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products.
These are essentials that most people take for granted, yet without them, students can feel embarrassed, distracted, or even unwilling to come to school. No child should have to worry about how they smell or whether they have the supplies they need just to feel clean and confident.
This project will provide students with the dignity and comfort they deserve. By meeting their basic needs, we’re creating a classroom environment where students can focus on learning rather than personal insecurities. Access to these hygiene items will help boost their self-esteem, reduce absences, and support their mental and emotional health, all of which are crucial for academic success.
