My students need these different vehicles, pretend career figures, and different signs to use in our block area. This year we are studying about career, college, and community.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are very hard workers and they are very engaged when working in centers. My students come to class eager to learn and they keep trying even when they are challenged. I make sure to differentiate all work so that all students feel successful every day.
My students are very diverse.
My school is a low-income public charter school with a focus on science and math. I make sure they have many hands-on activities to be engaged in.
We serve K-6 with the focus on preparing the students for college.
My Project
This year we will be studying about careers, college, and community throughout the year.
The different vehicles and the different pretend community helper figures will be a great way for the students to use in our classroom hand on centers.
This year I'm bringing different community helpers into the classroom to discuss a variety of different jobs. Kindergarten is not too early for students to start learning about why we go to school and what kind of education each job requires. After we have had a class discussion the students will be able to go into the manipulative center and pretend that is the job they are doing.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
