Career Readiness and Lifelong Learning through the Medium of Photography.
My students need DSLR cameras for their photography classes. Our goal is to build a Career and Technical Education program, so they will need to use Nikon D3400 DSLRs with two lenses.
Here at Edward R. Murrow High School, because our student body is so large, we have an extremely diverse population. We have a large number of second-language learners as well as many students with physical, emotional and learning challenges as well as many students with economic disadvantages. We believe in diversity and having an integrated learning environment. There is a huge emphasis on education in the arts because we believe that in those classrooms, communities and creativity really develops and thrives.
My Project
The students will be using the Nikon DSLR cameras every day to create Photography and Digital Design Career-based projects, which will give them sustainable skills in their post high school lives. The majority of our students are economically disadvantaged, and by teaching them to use technology, it will equip them with career-ready skills.By using these cameras, students will have experience with industry-standard technology, which will make them more marketable in industry once they enter the work force. We are trying to build a CTE (Career and Technical Education) design and media program, which offers career-based curricula.
By donating to our project, you will be helping economically disadvantaged students to gain access to equipment that will aid in career and college readiness. In order to receive funding for our CTE program, students must demonstrate a working knowledge of industry-standard equipment.Currently our budget does not cover the photography equipment that we need in order to service our students.
Career and Technical Education programs are designed to provide students of all economic strata and learning levels to succeed post school. The donations for this project will open up new future prospects for students who otherwise would be unaware of or not have access to.
