My Students
Our journalism, broadcasting, and advanced computers classes are electives that are filled to capacity because our students gain career skills in these hands-on classes and apply learning to real-life situations. Students write, create, and produce their own fiction and non-fiction works.
The students in these classes are a diverse group from a multitude of backgrounds.
Some are from families where they will be the first to attend college while others are from families where paying the monthly bills is a challenge. All our students deserve an opportunity to create skills that they can take with them into the work force or to college.
These students are creative problem-solvers who enjoy the challenge of new ideas and project. The excitement they show heading into our multi-class collaborative projects surpasses what I or my co-teacher could hope for.
My Project
The classes are beginning a joint effort of creating their own fiction and non-fiction pieces of video work. In order to develop and use the writing, producing, and editing skills we hope to in this class, the students are in need of some materials to create a real production center for their works with this green screen and lighting set. We hope to use this project by empowering students through art to create works that can be shared with the school, community, and world. In addition these materials will help students showcase and build career and technical skills.
We want to create a positive environment where our students share their creativity and skills with the school, community, and world through online mediums in an effort to build a positive reputation for our students and school.
