My Students
My students attend a public school in San Francisco, where the diversity is varied tremendously by socioeconomic and demographic backgrounds. During this school closure, many of my students are faced with limited resources in their home setting, making it very difficult to engage in curricular content through virtual media.
By having enriching activities and materials to engage my students in a variety of ways to accommodate each child’s specific learning needs, they will be able to continue their path of learning, even from a distance.
Many families are using their last resources and children’s well being are sometimes becoming affected by their family’s financial situations.
My Project
Building with Legos and Magnatiles help develop creativity and imagination to expand pretend play in young children. During this distance learning time, many children have the opportunity to explore through play indoors and find ways to engage in conceptual learning. An arts and crafts creativity set can help develop fine motor skills while also nurturing the artistic minds of young children. New books of high interest can engage students to continue their love of reading.
These materials will help stimulate creative play and encourage communication and social skills with others through a more hands-on approach.
Since many young children are engaging in more screen time than usual with virtual books and online class meetings, this will provide an opportunity to relax the mind and explore learning through play.
