My Project
Covid-19 has caused disruption in everyone’s life. For three years, our population has had to adjust to the new social expectations on how to interact and engage with each other. This has taken both an emotional and academic toll, as for years much of our social engagement shifted to digital platforms. This social shift in communication paired with the isolation of quarantine I believe left many students struggling to have face to face conversations, and left them uncomfortable with the idea of working with others in a team learning environment. In short the needs of students from Covid-19 are varied, however I believe we can all benefit from a welcoming space. I plan to achieve this by making a corner of the classroom open to students to grab snacks, make tea, or simply charge a device they depend on on a daily basis. My hope is that this shared space will bring a sense of community to the classroom as well as encourage students to share a conversation about how their day is going, save them from a stressful low battery on their electronic device, or just give them a moment to reflect as they make some tea with others.
