My Project
Middle school is tough for people because they are learning to work with their emotions and how to engage in social situations. Through the use of metaphor and self-reflection students can begin to build some of those social emotional skills. The universe that we are using for this is Harry Potter as it lends itself well to thinking about identity and other aspects of social and emotional skills. Students have already read through the first book and are excited to continue this journey in the rest of the series. We will be ready for book 2 in a couple of weeks. In book two, we will talk about family structures, values, and belonging which builds off of what we have talked about with identity, learning about emotions, and friendship in book 1.
