Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is about 3 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, so knowing the tides is very important. From flooding streets to a good time to surf, many families still need to know what the tide schedule is. Students learn about tides as part of our space unit, and I thought this would be a great project to incorporate for them.
Students will cut cardboard and creat tide and regular clocks using recycled materials.
There is a way to adjust a regular clock mechanism to be a tide clock, and I will let some of my more advanced students try that! The Chomp-saw will allow them to easily cut circles and waves safely and accurately!
I can't think of a more appropriate science project to complement our lessons on tides! We will be following our lessons in sustainability by using recycled cardboard!
