My Students

My students live in a scenic and rural part of the west. We are hikers, hunters, skiers, bikers, anglers and campers.

We create innovative learning opportunities by fostering community, individuality, and imagination.

My students love our choice-based classroom and using studio art materials like those used by working artists empowers them to stretch and explore....to take artistic risks!

My Project

Cardboard is one of the cheapest and most abundant materials I can provide in the art room and my students love working with it. Unfortunately, cutting cardboard can be tricky and dangerous. Scissors are awkward and blades are unpredictable.

Canary Cutters are an innovative, safe and easy way for kids to cut cardboard and make use of the this ubiquitous medium, without the risk of injury.

I've watched my students turn cardboard into computers, houses, gear driven contraptions, and even clothing. By far the most common complaint I hear from my students is that it's difficult to cut. With Canary Cutters my students can work with autonomy to create their next masterpiece....safely!
