My Students

We are public charter school that accepts students, grades 7-12, through an open enrollment process. Students are not charged tuition. Our students come from all demographics with diverse interests. These incredible students are academically driven, creatively inspired and motivated to overcome challenges regarding their education choices. Our curriculum is college preparatory focused which encourages the development of lifelong learners and prepares them to continued their education even after high school.

The passion and dedication my students have for the arts makes them stand out!

In a time where many institutions are ending photography programs and taking out darkrooms, our school sees the importance and the potential of photography as a venue for expression for students. I believe it’s not just a skill but an avenue of learning history as well as making it!

In Photo I students learn how to use manual analog cameras and basic skills in the darkroom. Photo II allows them to take technical skills learned in Photo I and build a portfolio that reflects their voice and interests. My Yearbook staff practices posing, exposure, color balance, and lighting. They edit each image and work with layout and design.

My Project

The digital cameras will allow my students to further understand the traditional photographic techniques learned in the darkroom in Photo I and prepare them for the constant growth of the digital world.

The students will gain experience, a better understanding of digitally media, create professional workflow habits and explore digital editing software such as Photoshop and Lightroom.

Photo II will be able to create a more progressive curriculum and the capabilities of our Yearbook staff will flourish as we will be able to document more events and moments throughout the school year. Having more tools to work with will will greatly impact my student's education
