This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The majority of the population is receiving free or reduced rate lunch. The students in our school are well-behaved and are always looking for a challenge. Our school is located in a central part of the city where many cultures live together. Our school is unique because even with such a diverse population, the students manage to get along and do the job that is expected from each and every one of them.
We are fortunate to have a Science Lab which services students from 2-5th grade.
This lab is important so that students can become involved in more hands-on STEAM activities as part of the regular curriculum.
My Project
My students will use the DSLR camera to capture the results of real world experiments. We will use the time lapse feature to show how things change in Nature. They will explore the stars, moon, and sun as well as the metamorphosis of different animals life cycle. With these videos they will show the different outcomes that experiments have after they follow the procedures and be able to explain their conclusions using evidence from pictures and videos. They will share their inquiry experiences throughout different grade levels with the use of technology. They will learn that science has no right or wrong answers, but only evidence that proves or doesn't prove their hypothesis.
