My students need two in-car cameras (one for the front and one for the back), one LCD monitor to monitor behind the vehicle, and one RCA cable to connect the monitor.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Dondoneau's classroom raised $227
This project is fully funded
My Students
Visual examples provide the best format for learning for this generations learners. Students nowadays struggle with boring lectures and monotonous in-car directions.
Students in my high school highway and traffic safety education class (driver's education) range from grade 8 to grade 12.
Student range in academic ability from gifted and talented to learning disabled. Some of the students also have behavioral disabilities, including a few with autism spectrum disorders.
My Project
In-car video cameras provide students with the ability to review their driving experiences. With one camera in front and one in the rear, the student is able to examine their choices to determine if they were appropriate, as well as identify what other options they had. The rear-facing camera will be connected to a monitor so that the in instructor can better monitor traffic in the rear zones of the car. The first project using these videos will be to create a password-protected website so that students and parents can access and review videos to identify skills that students struggle with. Parents will then have a better understanding of how to work better with their student.
This project's goal is to improve the behind the wheel driving experience of driver's education.
Students are only allotted 6 hours of driving in the program, but that is not nearly enough to be a driver with sufficient driving skills. Providing video will allow parents, teachers, and other family members to help where students have driving deficits.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
