This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are fortunate to have a hands-on, inquiry-based science curriculum that the children find both fun and engaging. My students are young scientists. They are very inquisitive about their world.

Our school is 100% free lunch.

We are a poor school in a poor neighborhood. Most kids don't have access to technology. Most of my students get to use a computer at school and at the library but rarely at home. Some have no idea what technology can truly do. .

My Project

My students will be able to document their science experiments and process with a camera. Of course, the digital camera will be used in a variety of ways each day in our classroom. Photos of students engaged in activities or taking part in our upcoming trip to a nearby marine laboratory will be excellent prompts for students to use in their daily journal writing.

Using a digital camera to document science experiments is critical to help keep my students engaged in hands-on science.

As their drawing skills continue improving, they can use the camera to accurately capture their observations. As a result, my students will continue viewing themselves as young scientists looking forward to the next opportunity to do a new experiment.
