Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Science is everywhere in today's world. It is part of our daily lives, from gardening, to recycling, and comprehending the daily weather. Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science. ~Edwin Powell Hubble, The Nature of Science, 1958.

My students attend a 100% free lunch, public school.

They are enthusiastic second language learners who come from low income, hard working families. They are positive individuals that know that with math and language literacy, they will have a successful future. Our school provides a safe, nurturing environment that promotes a rigorous academic program.

My Project

Advances in science are transforming our world at an incredible pace, and our children's future will surely be filled with leaps in technology we can only imagine. Being "science literate" will no longer be just an advantage, but an absolute necessity. We can't escape from the significance of science in our world. I'm planning to get my students excited about science. I will take my students on nature walks around the school and hopefully on a hiking trip to the mountains. I'm planning to use one of the cameras to take pictures of lizards, birds, insects and other animals during our nature walks. I will download the pictures to my computer and classified the animals with my class. The other waterproof camera the students will use it to take pictures of animals that live under water in a river. During the hiking trip they will take pictures of salamanders, fish and tadpoles. It will be an amazing experience for my students. I want them to get curious and excited about science.

Educators are encourage to integrate technology into their classrooms because today's student is exposed to all sorts of digital devices in their daily life.

These cameras will allow my students to be excited about their nature walks and about science. I love those moments when students suddenly see something amazing, or grasp a concept, and their eyes light up. Help me promote science and create future scientists for our world.
