My Project
In today's rapidly evolving digital era, the power of photography goes far beyond simply capturing moments in time. The act of taking photographs fosters creativity, hones observational skills, and offers a unique medium for expression. I invite you to join me in harnessing this power for the benefit of my students, providing them with a camera to explore and understand the world around them.
Living in rural Alaska is a truly beautiful experience.
The vast, breathtaking landscapes of rural Alaska, with its sprawling tundras, towering mountains, and serene bodies of water, hold stories waiting to be told. Through the lens of a camera, my students can capture and chronicle the beauty and intricacies of these natural wonders. Documenting their surroundings will not only nurture an appreciation for nature but will also deepen their connection to their Alaskan heritage.
Furthermore, a Camera in hand becomes more than just a tool; it emerges as a gateway to experiential learning. Photography teaches students about perspective, composition, lighting, and the subtle balance between a subject and its background. While these skills are rooted in art, they have wider applications, fostering critical thinking, patience, and meticulous attention to detail.
