Capturing Moments and Milestones

My students need a digital camera and flash memory card to capture special moments around campus. We would like to document our school year using digital photography.

My Students

My students are awesome.

They are in 4th grade in a rural Oklahoma school. They love to learn, have new experiences, participate in various activities, and socialize. The students in my class come from all over the globe and are very different in learning styles and abilities. We have a fast growing number of military students, a high population of Native American students, and several are from right here in Oklahoma. We also have many high achieving students, a Title 1 program, and we practice inclusion for special needs.

My Project

We would like to have a classroom digital camera and a memory card. I like to photograph the students while they are working in the classroom, participating in school functions, and while we are out on field trips. Because so much of a child’s day is spent in school, parents lose out on opportunities to capture special moments and milestones. I want to help them document lasting memories for years to come. Also, I would like to teach the students how to use the camera and about the importance of photography in art. I believe the camera will lend itself to enhanced learning through technology rich experiences.

Imagine how proud students will be when they show their parents a year full of learning through photographs.

Picture the child whose mother or father is abroad with the military – who could not attend their child’s musicals and class parties. With this camera, we can capture those special moments and help families experience memories that could otherwise be lost forever.
