My Students
Do you remember your first experiences of school? Imagine that time during a pandemic. Although my students are coming to school at such a monumental time, they have embraced it with such curiosity and wonder. I have the pleasure of working in a Title I school with 20 kinders who I enjoy tremendously. My school has a participation of over 85% free/reduced lunch and are economically disadvantaged. Despite, these challenges, they show up each day ready for the next adventure. As children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of technology. They are very energetic and social and need opportunities to channel their energy through several different engaging strategies and tools.
My Project
Our school has a daily morning meeting, where we spend time working on the social and emotional well-being of the child. This is how we begin our day and the students look forward to this time. I believe that the Q ball would help those reluctant students to share and also help with taking turns to speak.
We also have whole group learning time for reading and math twice a day.
The Q ball would be used at this time to increase participation and help students work on their verbal skills. My hope is that students will be more likely to participate and will be able to speak up with the use of the Q ball.
