This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are students with special needs and most are thought to be on the autism spectrum. They attend school in a highly impoverished district where access to speciality items is limited. My school specializes in working with preschoolers who have special needs and helping them get the early interventions that they need to be successful in their education. They are lovable and thrive on learning through music and play. Every day they look forward to the classroom routine which involves lots of language, play, and music. Language and math are areas that are difficult for them and using music, games, and pictures allows an avenue of language that is otherwise closed to them.
My Project
By having individualized pouches with all the essentials for my students I will be able to keep them safe and keep them learning the skills that are the cornerstone of their education. The pouch will keep all the items together and easy to sanitize each day. It will also give us the ability to send them home with the kids if they need to use them at home if we have to go back to that learning model this school year. This will also empower my students with a way to learn responsibility for items within my classroom.
