Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach seventh-grade students in a high needs, inner-city setting. Our school is extremely diverse, with nearly fifty percent living below the poverty line and seventy percent receiving free or reduced-price lunch services. In my class, I have students that are either living below the poverty line or teeter slightly above it. My students are incredibly curious, innovative, and creative. They learn best when they are exposed to hands-on experiential learning and when they can apply the knowledge they've learned in class to a real-life situation.
My Project
I would love to be able to document my students' work. The polaroid camera will allow us to share the pictures easily and send the pictures home. Having the polaroid camera will allow me to print the pictures out instantly and give them to my students.
The films will come in handy so we can create memories, artwork, and build community in our class.
With remote learning and COVID breaking down the typical bonds of classmates, teachers, and the school community, this will be a way to share the classroom environment with those who cannot participate in hybrid and in-person learning.
