Capturing Change: Through the Lens of a GoPro

My Project

Our STEM department is requesting a GoPro HERO13 camera to enhance our students’ learning and advocacy efforts around climate change. This action camera will allow students to become environmental storytellers, capturing real-time footage of their climate-focused activities, interviews, experiments, and community projects. The GoPro’s portability and high-quality video capabilities make it ideal for documenting both indoor and outdoor learning experiences that raise awareness about climate change and inspire action.

Students will use the camera to record experiments demonstrating the greenhouse effect, collect video reflections during nature walks and clean-up events, and interview classmates and staff about what they know and want to learn about environmental sustainability- They will also create short video PSAs encouraging eco-friendly behaviors, such as reducing plastic use or conserving energy.

Three Goals for This Project:

Empower students as environmental communicators by teaching them how to plan, film, and produce videos about climate change.

Increase school-wide awareness through student-created media that highlights both local and global environmental issues.

Foster collaboration and leadership as students work in teams to research, film, and edit their climate change content.

The culminating event will be a “Climate Change Film Festival,” where students will showcase their videos to peers, teachers, and families. This celebration will amplify student voices, spread environmental awareness, and motivate others to join the cause. The GoPro camera will not only capture learning—it will empower students to make a real-world impact.

We need this GoPro, so we can CAPTURE CHANGE and continue to use or voices to help spread awareness about our fragile EARTH.
