My Project

My high school students are enrolled in Child Development and Early Childhood Education courses, where they prepare for careers as caregivers, teachers, and child advocates. They participate in hands-on learning through two powerful experiences: caring for infant simulator babies and working directly with children in our preschool lab. Many of my students are visual learners and benefit deeply from reflecting on real moments of growth, responsibility, and teaching.

I am requesting a classroom camera to help students document their learning during the infant simulator project and while teaching and observing in our preschool lab.

Students will use the camera to capture caregiving routines such as feeding, soothing, and safe sleep practices with the baby simulators, document preschool lessons they design and teach, record classroom setups and learning centers they create, and add visual evidence to their child development portfolios and research projects. This supports hands-on, project-based interactive learning by allowing students to analyze their own caregiving and teaching practices. Photos become tools for reflection, discussion, assessment, and growth—just like in real early childhood education programs.

In child development, learning happens in moments—how a student comforts a crying simulator baby, how they guide a preschooler through an activity, how they respond to behavior or emotions. A camera allows those moments to be captured, studied, and improved. With this tool, students will deepen their understanding of child development through real-world applications, building professional portfolios they can use for future coursework, internships, or college programs. It also strengthens accountability, reflection, and pride in their work.
