This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm currently teaching at an inner city school in Harris County where students have limited resources and come from a low socio-economic background. The community is predominantly Hispanic and 100% of the students receive free lunch. Students need opportunities to be creative and develop artistic skills.
My students should have the opportunity to experience education not only through a lens of a camera but to capture life's beautiful moments.
I want to make a difference in their lives by providing them with an education that will challenge and sharpen their knowledge. We are eager to begin an photography club in our campus and need resources for the after school arts program.
My Project
In order to bring this project to life we need your help. We are beginning an after school arts program that will empower students through art and photography. Students from all ages will be allowed to enroll in the photography program. Once students are enrolled, they will attend photography club once or twice a week and discover the beauty of art through a lens of a camera. They will learn the basics of photography as well as how to capture memorable moments both instantly and with a high- definition camera. We will plan trips to the museum to visit professional photographer's art work.
Your contribution to this project will help build student's creativity and empower them artistically though photography.
This program is still in it's beginning stages, however, our goal is to provide students with plenty of opportunities to find the beauty within art. We need a Canon high definition camera as well as Polaroid instant cameras in order to capture pictures and learn photography.
