My Pre-K students are inquisitive individuals that work, play and create wonderfully together within a multicultural diverse class.
My students have learned how to share, cooperate, and respect each other not only at school but the parents contest that it's happening at home as well.
Some of their favorite activities are center time and outdoor play.
Although, they especially enjoy music and movement with instruments. This is where they express themselves without inhibition, knowing it's a safe place. Our school environment and community provides that.
My Project
Digital cameras have huge potential for motivating students and can be used in a variety of ways. The magic of digital cameras is unleashed when students use them to explore the world around them and communicate their ideas and understandings.
Digital cameras can be used to record information from a field trip to report back to parents and other students.
They can be used to capture and identify species found around the school and in local environments, or by sharing “sights and sounds” of the neighborhood and city we live in. Digital cameras can be used to create a time lapse of a bean plant growing from seed to maturity. A digital camera can also help to reach the visual learners in our classroom as well as support English Language Learners. As Pre-K students are learning the alphabet and initial sounds, I can have them use a digital camera to capture pictures of things that begin with each letter. For example: start the day with a slide show of the all the things in the classroom that begin with the letter “p”.
Then open the pictures in Pixie and use the Word feature to create a cool letter – a letter that shows the picture inside of it. Now that's capturing our Pre-K learning!
