Do you remember your first school play or the first time you danced on stage? Did your parents miss one of your shows? I know that has been the case for some of my students. I would like to capture my class' special performances on tape so my students can share their talents with their families.
I teach general and special education students in a Title I public school in New York.
My students are very talented and adorable. They are my little future superstars. Each month, my students work so hard to put on a special performance for their peers, school, and their families.
Unfortunately, their parents are not always able to make their shows and the disappointment on my students' faces is heartbreaking. A camcorder would allow me to record each performance and share it with my students' families.
My Project
I am requesting a Sony camcorder to capture each of my students' monthly performances. My students work so hard to shine on stage and sometimes their parents are not able to make it to the shows. The camcorder would allow my students to bring their performances home to their families. I am also requesting a case to keep the camcorder in a safe place when it is not being used.
This project is important because I have students who want to share their talents with their families.
Some of my students do not always get high scores on math tests, but are gifted in performing arts. They need chances to be in the spotlight and show the world that they can excel in other areas. It is important for my students to be able to have their families see the performances they have missed. This way the disappointment of not being seen onstage can be diminished.
