Captivating Scientists With Hands-on Learning

Help me give my students engaging hands-on learning experiences which includes squid dissection, circuit labs, STEM activities, and paper rollercoasters.

My Project

Hands-on learning is crucial in the science classroom. With a science curriculum that focuses on literacy skills, it is important to supplement the reading and writing activities with hands-on learning as well.

Students who struggle in their math and English classes often come alive when engineering and STEM activities are presented.

It is important to supplement the curriculum with hands-on experiences to allow every student the ability to learn the science concepts and to problem solve during STEM activities.

With several students who have transferred to my classroom from Venezuela and Ukraine with limited English, there is a need for multiple modalities of learning that is not present in the current science curriculum. I need to supplement learning to ensure we can reach all students in the classroom, not just those who can read English, grade-level texts.
