it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My third graders love math and playing. Counting collections are an engaging way to combine both to learn new math strategies and practice skills. Students use objects to organize in a way that works best for them to calculate the total. While doing so, they practice counting, skip counting, multiplication, division and various strategies to record their work.
The variety of objects in this project will give my students engaging hands-on practice in counting.
As their collections increase in volume, the students will be challenged to find more efficient ways to group and count. They will also learn from each other as they share their strategies and present their own way of counting to others. The containers will help us keep the captivating objects organized and readily accessible for students to use when choosing their collections.
