My students LOVE hands on learning! As the 3rd - 5th grade science teacher I love to work with our older kids and make learning about science as fun and engaging as possible!
Earth and soil science has been a science topic that Texas students, mine included, have typically struggled the most on.
I would like to try and bridge that gap by making this particular area more visible and hands on for my students.
I am requesting a dual chamber composting bin to help them get hands on with soil science. Our PTO was awarded a grant for a raised garden bed. I would like to use this composting bin and materials to help students get first hand experience on how nutrients are formed.
Agricultural science is so important and creating a vegetable garden will help students understand the work that goes into having the food that ends up on our table. We will be using scraps from our lunches and the cafeteria to create compost to be used in our raised garden bed so students get to see the whole process first hand!
