My Students
My classroom consists of 20 wonderful and talented students! I am a 7th and 8th grade special education Math teacher that teaches students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. Our school is a wonderful learning community, here to serve children of all needs and capabilities.
The students in our school are amazing kids who face extreme challenges in and outside of the classroom due to high poverty.
We are a Title 1 public school located in Staten Island. Our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We work hard to make our classroom a community and a family away from home. To make this happen, we have a variety of places in our classroom to learn in many different ways.
My Project
The coordinate plane is a huge part of the NYS 7th and 8th grade curriculum. The ten xy pegboards will allow for each of my students the use of their own pegboard to use during class. Currently, we only have 1 to be shared amongst 8 students at a time. With your donation, students will benefit from being able to manipulate the coordinate graph as an alternate, fun way of learning. Giving these students opportunities for yet another entry point and potentially sparking interest in Mathematics is an investment in their future. I believe these hands on manipulatives will improve student participation and learning in my classroom!
