Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I feel like my students are some of the best students and we teach them to become our future. My students are in a low-income area where they aren't really taught much about manners, life outside of their neighborhood, nor what is best for their future. Some of my students lost their homes and many items due to Hurricane Harvey. Considering all of these effects, they still come to my class eager to learn. My students are hard workers, I have students who range from being in the United States their whole lives, and I have students who also have just arrived from El Salvador, Mexico, or Honduras.
My students are learning in my class to have goals in life, have ambitions, as well as learn and become educated of their Science content.
My Project
Our students have been blessed with some great technology from a previous donor. Now, they need a few accessories, like speakers, a remote control and protective cases and covers, to help continue building their dreams through their projects.
Students gain so much knowledge and self confidence through their projects where they are learning to express their findings in the Science classroom.
Students are learning to work in groups, creating and building their ideas, learning to speak about what they are learning by demonstrating and "teaching" the class and also learning that they are so many different opinions from their peers.
Also, my student need an air purifier to help keep the air clean. Living in Houston, the weather is constantly causing students to get sick and germs spread. My goal with this purifier is to keep students from spreading germs and keeping them in school, so they don't miss so many days. We have already missed too many days due to Harvey, every single day in the classroom is crucial.
