Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have an enthusiastic and joyful first grade ICT class. About half of the student population lives in temporary housing (homeless shelter or domestic violence shelter). The students and their families where taken by surprise by remote learning. Some students have access to iPads provided by the city's department of education. While other students share a device with 1-2 siblings or complete their work using a parent's cellphone. It has been a challenge, but nevertheless the students have tried their best in learning using Google classroom and engaging in remote learning activities.
My Project
At this moment it is uncertain whether schools in my area will reopen. What I do know with certainty is that my students need and will continue learning. This project will allow me to provide each student in my classroom with their own set of materials to engage in different learning activities. Most of these materials are commonly and the most utilized daily in a classroom.
No matter what the new school year looks like, the materials will help my students engage in learning activities whether in a socially distanced classroom or at home.
