Most people can fidget (twirl your hair, doodle on your notepad) quietly while listening to speakers.
Unfortunately, some kids need a little extra support to maintain focus on academic tasks while meeting their sensory needs. We have many students who have ADHD and are unmedicated.
Medication isn't always the answer. Other options are available to help support their sensory needs while at school. Most of our chairs are hard plastic with metal legs. Any type of movement in these chairs cause high level of distraction in the classroom. And our students definitely need constant movement.
My Project
The ball chairs are a unique alternative to regular chairs in the classrooms. They allow for students to move as needed without disrupting the learning environment. Students can move as much or as little as needed in order to meet their individual sensory needs.
Our students face enough challenges throughout their little lifetimes that allowing them to be successful in the classroom can help overcome some of the what we can't control out of the classroom.
