My students need new books for our classroom library. Book titles such as Maximum Ride, Twilight, Stick Dog, and Artemis Fowl will encourage even the most reluctant readers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many of my students are first or second generation Americans. Some are learning to read English for the first time. Others are just turned off to reading because of the difficulties they have with it or their inability to find interesting books. Reading is not a priority in many of their households and many students don't even own a library card. The only exposure they have to reading is in my classroom.
My students need access to books they love!
Since a little more than half of the students at my school receive free or reduced lunch, they may have limited access to the books they love and want to read at home. Their primary source for getting books to read is our school library. They work hard every day to learn what is required and then some. Reading for pleasure is an important part of becoming a lifelong reader. These books are what they "enjoy" reading. Please help me instill a love of reading in my students.
My Project
My students will check these books out from the library every day. My students will know how much fun it is to read books that make you laugh out loud. With these books in my classroom library, I can make independent reading in class a time which students look forward to, instead of one which they try to get through with "fake" reading. With these books, I hope to teach my students that there is a book for everyone and that they can become lifelong readers. The end result will be excitement for reading.
Students who rarely complete homework assignments or independent reading will pounce on these new titles and devour them within a day or two (I've seen it happen with book donations before).
If you love to read, and would like to help future generations discover the joy of reading, then please help by donating to this project and bringing my students the resources they need.
