This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade in an inner city Title I school. 80% of the students at my school are eligible for free lunch. This coming year I will have 28 students eager to read and learn!
The majority of my students rely on my classroom for all of their reading material. It is my responsibility to expose them to as many different genres of reading as possible. Time for Kids will enable the children stay up to date on current events in an extremely kid-friendly format. I know from past experience that this magazine encourages lively classroom discussions!
My class needs a subscription to Time for Kids. This will give my students exposure to non-fiction writing that is of high interest to them. The subscription includes a poster size edition for the classroom as well as suggested lesson plans for the teacher to enhance their learning. After we read the issue in class, I encourage the children to bring the magazine home to share with their families!
Your generosity will allow my students to read a compelling non-fiction magazine on their grade level. They will be able to learn about current events each week. Most of the Time for Kids issues are about topics that dovetail with our science or social studies curriculum. Due to extreme budget cuts to education, this resource will not be available without your help!

After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts.
