This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I never saw myself as an actor. I really didn't. However, when you get the chance to stand in front of 30 bright-eyed students, you have to be. I sing, I dance and I have mastered the voices of many different cartoon animals. I understand the responsibility of a great first impression of the school. It warms my heart that such a simple gesture has become such an essential part of their school day.

I teach a bilingual classroom where all 30 of my students are English Language Learners.

My students love to read and are eager to solve problems every single day. The school I proudly work at serves a low-income population of primarily Hispanic students. Despite many hardships, my students always come in motivated and ready to learn!

My Project

Let's make some sight words! We have been learning online and I am so proud of how my students have adapted. We are killing it! I do worry that we do have too much screen time.

Please help me give my students a classic LEGO set to make guided reading more interactive.

I would like to give each of my students a bag of LEGOs so that they are able to make sight words during our literacy block. Being able to give the students more hands on materials will make learning more fun and interactive! Most importantly I will be able to give them a little less screen time.
