This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have some very hard working first graders! They are thirsty to learn. Some need more remediation than others, while others need extra challenging work. Having a copy machine in my classroom will greatly help all of us!
My students are all first and second generation Americans of Latino descent.
They are bright, happy, and lively, and struggle with the desperation and poverty that surround them in their community. All of the students receive free lunch and breakfast, and most of them live at or below the poverty level.
Although our school is not in a desirable area, the parents and students work together to make the best of what we have. We struggle with maintaining the supplies we need to best prepare our students for their future.
My Project
Having a copy machine in the room will help my students in so many ways! For the students who need remediation, I'll be able to make copies of enrichment activities. A lot of parents ask for extra work that they can help their child with at home; having a copy machine will enable me to provide this. Also, some of my students are doing so well that I'd like to provide more challenging work. Having a copy machine will allow me to make assignments as needed. It will also save me valuable instruction time from going to a colleague's room to beg for copy machine access.
By donating to this project, my classroom will be closer to self-sufficiency!
I will be able to add to my student's education by providing them with relevant additions to our curriculum. My parents will be able to get copies made to help them in helping their children.
