Help me give my students learning math resources, such as RekenRods, ten frame boards, subitizing and counting manipulatives and a mobile dry erase board.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As the math intervention teacher, I get the opportunity to work closely with students who benefit most from differentiated instruction and hands-on learning. The RekenRods, ten frame boards, subitizing and counting manipulatives and a mobile dry erase board would provide students the opportunity to practice and strengthen their counting skills.
One of the most important skills for our students to develop is counting objects using one-to-one correspondence.
One-to-one correspondence allows young students to assign a number to each object counted. Students do this by touching or moving the object when counting, which is why your donation is so important in helping my students gain number sense. As students continue to gain number sense, clear plastic containers allow students to organize their collection of counters into groups of tens, fives, or twos. With your support, students will then take their collection home in small bags to count at home and reinforce their knowledge. A mobile dry erase board will allow me to model mathematical ideas for small group instruction.
