This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school in Southern California where most of the students receive free lunch. My first grade class is composed of about 98% English learners. They are eager to learn new information and love hands-on activities.
Our school's # 1 goal is to have proficient readers and writer.
We encourage students to do their best and always feel that they are in a supportive, safe, and welcoming environment where they can reach their full potential in all academic areas .
My Project
My class is fortunate to have access to Chromebooks in the class. The Chromebooks are used as one of our technology centers during small group instruction. Unfortunate a lot of their learning time is interrupted by lack of working headphones.
Every morning I hear, "Ms. C., I can't hear!" I have to stop my lesson with my other group to help them.
The new headphones will help my students focus on learning and will allow me to spend quality time teaching the rest of the students that are not using the computers or tablets. My students will maximize their learning time with out interruptions if they get new working headphones.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
