I have 20 students who come to my classroom eager to learn every day. Although I teach in a magnet school, many of the school supply funds have been cut out of the budget due to district and state budget cuts.
As a magnet school, we embrace our MicroSociety theme and pride ourselves in its integration of mathematics, writing, science, and social studies into the curriculum, weaving it throughout our academic day.
Our students are all employed in ventures that encourage them to be productive and responsible citizens within our learning community.
At our school, we provide students with a rigorous academic learning environment built upon high expectations and inquiry-based learning within our meaningful standards-based curriculum. The MicroSociety philosophy creates powerful incentives for all children to learn.
My Project
This project is to help my students to hear the sounds that are coming out of their computers.
Having a pair of headphones to use with your computer is essential to running a busy first grade classroom.
The headphones will be given to students to use during small group instruction time to use with their computers to complete online learning programs such as Lexia, Iready, Zearn and STMath. Without headphones it is hard for first grade students to stay focused on their classwork and not interrupt their friends. Having these will be a game changer for many of my students who are without at this time.
