My Project

Over many decades of teaching, you would think you would have seen it all, right? Sometimes I feel students and teachers are a social experiment. Cell phones in the classroom are a great example; it seems Oklahoma has mandated a new law to remove all social electronic devices from the classrooms. Creating a plan to represent peaceful intentions will help justify the new law that seeks to make our educational system more competitive.

What does this mean for our students and teachers?

I did not make the law, but I must now enforce it. My students didn't break the law but are now told to find alternative ways to socialize. Old-school methods of playing games at the table might be a great place to start before developing K20 teaching strategies using authentic lessons developed from prior knowledge. `

I plan to introduce these group activities to help calm my students' anxiety and emotional stress as we transition to the task at hand. These activity games that I am requesting may solve this abrupt change with a peaceful outcome. The hands-on activities include The Calm Ball, Hoofun Glow in the Dark POP Bubble Fidget Llama Toy, PEEQ QBALL Pro, and the Jenga stacking kits. Our students must see themselves as new leaders and not as victims of circumstance.
