My Project

Reading fluency and accuracy are critical components of early literacy development. Many students face challenges in these areas, which can impact their overall academic performance and confidence in reading. Integrating Amira, an innovative evidence-based program that uses artificial intelligence, provides an opportunity to support students in developing these crucial skills. Amira listens to students’ reading, identifies areas where they need support, and provides targeted feedback and practice opportunities. However, to ensure the effectiveness of this program, students must have access to clear audio input and output capabilities to engage fully with Amira's features. Standard classroom headphones may not offer the sound quality and microphone sensitivity needed for accurate speech recognition.

By utilizing high-quality headphones with mics, we aim to enhance all second grade students' reading skills in an engaging and effective way.

In today’s classroom, personalized learning tools and technologies are essential to meet the diverse needs of students. These headphones will ensure that students can engage with the program effectively, receive accurate individualized speech feedback, and practice their reading fluency in a quiet and focused environment.

Investing in this project will significantly enhance the effectiveness of the Amira program, leading to measurable improvements in students’ reading skills. The personalized learning environment created in Amira, coupled with the appropriate equipment, will provide students with the tools they need to become confident, fluent readers and ensure their academic success!
