Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Teaching is a great reward in and of itself; however, I feel even more rewarded to be able to teach my students. My students come from various home lives and have a variety of disabilities such as autism and developmental delays. My students are my life. They are the reason I get up in the morning and go to work. My students make me laugh and teach me something new every day. I am amazed at their perseverance and determination to keep learning.

By donating to our project, you will be helping improve and increase my students' skills in reading comprehension, letter sounds, phonics, and the alphabet as well as their phonemic awareness through auditory and tactile learning opportunities.

Due to my students underlying disabilities such as autism or specific learning disabilities, their reading skills are lower than those of their peers in general education. Their determination not to let their disabilities dictate their education means our classroom must continuously provide multisensory learning opportunities for them to learn and reinforce various reading skills.

My students will be able to learn how to read and continually use their listening skills to help them build and strengthen their reading skills for years to come.
