My students love science, and they especially love the hands-on experiments, projects, and dissection labs.

My favorite part of teaching is seeing their eyes light up when they make a discovery during a lab.

I teach 8th-grade science in a middle school in Missouri. My students are both energetic and inquisitive learners. They enjoy coming to school, researching new science concepts, and conducting hands-on experiments.

Over half of my students live in poverty and don’t bring the necessary supplies to the classroom like pencils and notebooks. My students were also affected when an EF5 tornado destroyed a third of our town when they were young. Many of my students lost their homes or family members. They grew up experiencing loss at a young age.

My Project

Have you ever tried to use headphones that only work out of one ear, are falling apart, or sound like static? It's very frustrating! I have some headphones for students to borrow in my classroom, but I don't have enough for all of my students, and some of them are starting to fall apart.

Heavy duty headphones will improve my student's classroom experiences immensely!

My students each have a Chromebook to use every day. There are times when I record video lessons explaining different concepts, or having students watch video clips demonstrating different concepts during class. While watching videos as a whole group, I need a set of speakers loud enough to reach the back of the room. Sometimes, I have students watch videos on their own because they are focusing on different topics, or I don't want to disturb classrooms in our hallway. I would like to get a few pairs of headphones for these instances. I believe my students deserve to use headphones that work. To help with their work, I am requesting 8 pairs of headphones for my students to use in the classroom. I've had a class set funded before, but some of them are falling apart or have stopped working completely. Adding 8 pairs of headphones should provide enough working headphones for my entire class.
