This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders are witty and fun-loving. They walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. Most of my students are bilingual or newcomers from Mexico. They live in a low-economic neighborhood with Spanish speaking parents. They are desperate to learn to better their lives in our country. My newcomers only get educated in the English language about 6 hours a day between the walls of my classroom. They go home to Spanish speaking homes. It is up to me to teach them English. iPads in my classroom can help me use this time wisely. I need assistance to help my newcomers feel successful with their handicap. Technology is easy to learn by students. It is a universal tool that can keep the learning happening in my room.

My Project

A new sound system for our school will impact our students in the entire school. We celebrate and honor our students with awards such as student of the month, perfect attendance, and reading achievements. We play music to pump up the vibe and get our kids excited. However, we have lost the vibe. Our sound system is old. The speakers pop. The microphones have shorts in the wiring. We have been yelling and screaming the past few Fridays. We might have to just cancel Friday assemblies.

Help us pump up our students on Friday's by providing a new sound system for our school.

We can ignite our students' enthusiasm by playing music for our dance team. Students will be able to hear their names announced to receive their awards from our local church.

Our local church supports our student of the month award. The church also provides "Jimmy the Bear," our mascot, to hand out the awards. "Jimmy" loves to dance and entertain the students while handing out the awards. "Jimmy" hasn't been able to dance in awhile.

With your help, we can bring life back to our Friday assemblies. We can invite more speakers such as famous authors, community leaders that educate our kids, and motivational speakers that want to inspire our children. Be apart of our celebration and support our school!
