My Students

The more that you read, the more things you will know.-Dr. Seuss. It can be hard to stay focused and read in a busy classroom. This year, we would love to read more, and learn more, by adding a listening center and "whisper phones" to better hear reading during our center rotations.

Our classroom is extremely diverse!

We come from all varieties of social, economic, religious, and racial backgrounds, as well as different academic ability levels. We work together well by using all of our unique talents to support all of our varying needs. Teamwork makes the dream work!

My Project

These materials will certainly help students be more focused and engaged during independent reading time. With our new listening center, 5 - 6 students will be able to listen to an audio book and follow along as reading with fluency and expression is modeled for them. With the individual whisper phones, students will be able to read aloud to themselves and better hear how their reading sounds while being less disruptive to others. Duel whisper phones will allow partners to have a shared reading experience of reading and asking/answering questions at a lower voice level.

If reading is made more enjoyable, more engaging, and more focused, more will be learned.

I know that my students will find audio books and whisper phones to be exciting tools to enhance their independent reading experiences on a daily basis. I also know that, if they enjoy reading now, they will be readers for life.
