My Project

I work with students through a special Advanced Placement Correspondence Program. I have students located at schools throughout the School District of Philadelphia. While I do travel around to the different schools to work with my students one-on-one or in small groups, a large percentage of our classes are conducted online through various web platforms.

One of the issues I have run into over the years is since I may only have 3-5 students at a particular school, they will not have a designated area where they can work just to themself and usually have to share a space that can be noisy.

Usually my students will sit in the back of another class that is full of students and being taught by another teacher but then work on our course work instead.

The issue with this, is they sometimes cannot hear the information or lectures that I am going over. They cannot turn the volume up on their laptops because that will disrupt the regular class. They are permitted to use earbuds but many of my students live in poverty and cannot afford them, or there are no stores in their area where they can buy an inexpensive pair.

Being able to provide them with something as simple as a pair of earbuds will make a big difference for them.
