My Students
My French classroom sparks curiosity in students learning a new language, discovering different cultures, and finding connections between English and French.
My students are eager to learn, enthusiastic in the face of grammar rules and exceptions, and love to be challenged.
They are excited to apply their language skills for creating content, exploring art originating in France, and discovering experiences of their peers growing up in different cultures. Their interest ranges from French history and its connection with English and American history, food and culinary experiences, as well as social events happening in French cities.
My Project
Repeated exposition to native speakers is key for the acquisition of a foreign language. Headphones will give my students the opportunity to listen to passages, videos, and take assessments at their own pace, they can replay a passage, stop, restart when they need. Also, the use of headphone will isolate the surrounding chatter and help them focus on one source of sound.
These headphones will provide students with many opportunity to access authentic sources in the foreign language they are learning.
The microphone will also allow them to record themselves speaking. Several of my students are extremely shy and get very nervous at the idea of public speaking. By recording themselves speaking with a direct audience first, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate that they can do as well as they other, and build the self-confidence that will permit them to present in small committee and eventually to the class.
