My students need a cozy carpet to welcome them into the media center to gather and read funny, silly stories together. It will enhance the atmosphere of the media center.
My typical day involves seeing students Pre-K through Sixth grade. I like to do carpet time with my lower grades and read a story. We do crafts, games and learning activities, and need a spot for all of us to sit on to stay together.
I work in the Moore school district which has seen and encountered a lot of disaster over the years.
Yet, Moore is a very caring community and students feel this when they walk into our building each day. We are a Title I school where the majority of our students are on free/reduced lunches. The students know that all the teachers in our building care for them, and want them to succeed in life.
My Project
The carpet will be used for story time with all the lower grades. They will be able to sit comfortably on the floor, and listen to a story. The older students 2nd and up, would use it to learn the Dewey Decimal. This is the hardest concept for students to understand how the Nonfiction is set up. I have created fun games to teach this concept through the use of the carpet. I feel it will be very beneficial to the library, and students will learn their Dewey Decimal.
The Dewey Decimal rug will provide a fun colorful addition to the library for story time and lessons.
I will be able to introduce the concept to the younger grades and use it for years to come. The place will become even more inviting by adding this addition. Thank you all for taking the time to help out our school.
