My Students
I teach a 5th grade class of 21st-century learners. Finding a way to engage each learner takes a new set of teacher skills. The learners of today are a far cry from those of yesterday. No longer are the three-r's enough for these future adults.
Students today need to be proficient in the three-C's: creativity, communication, and collaboration.
It is imperative for students today to learn to problem solve and persevere through difficult situations. This is a difficult skill for young students to learn, and breakout boxes are a great way to increase enthusiasm.
My Project
Have you ever heard of an Escape Room? Breakout Boxes are the equivalent, but made for classrooms. When combined with classroom curriculum, these breakout boxes are an amazing way to heighten curiosity, collaboration, and excitement for learning. As students compete to solve codes and locks, they are integrating social studies, science, language arts, and more.

I know my students will look forward to coming to school when they know they will be doing breakout boxes. I cannot wait to begin using these in my classroom!
