My Students
Our class is made up of 25, 3rd-grade students. Each student has a unique story that makes them special and part of our classroom community. I have had so much fun getting to know them.
I am starting a new year, new grade, and new School. After all of these adjustments, I am realizing that my students need some new challenges and ways to apply their skills. This a high achieving class with over 75% of them scoring above grade level in reading and 65% of them above grade level in math. A breakout kit would be a great way to encourage teamwork and problem-solving.
My Project
Breakout kits are used to help engage students and apply skills they have used. They involve students working all together or in small groups to solve many small puzzles to break open the large puzzle/box.
Having tried a breakout as an adult, was so fun and engaging. I know my students will love this challenge. Many of my students have gone to a local business called The Grand Escape Room and have done similar breakouts with their families. When they visit with me about these experiences I can see the joy they have trying to persevere and solve the problems to breakout.
