My Project
Integrating social-emotional learning in schools has positive short- and long-term effects on scholars. Benefits range from improved academic achievement and classroom behavior to fewer psychological or behavioral issues in the future and overall improved understanding and management of emotions, goal setting, showing empathy for others, establishing positive relationships, and making responsible decisions, all of which must be underscored in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The foundation of my educational philosophy is authentic relationships, a commitment that doesn't deprioritize content proficiency, procedures, pedagogy, and classroom management.
I believe that supporting my scholars emotionally is integral to teaching and learning in and out of the classroom. The earmuffs, fidgets, weighted animals, and alternative seating options on this list will assist in providing impactful learning experiences emphasizing collaboration, creative expression, & identity development while fostering a safe, comfortable environment for scholars! The furniture/decor, manipulatives, SEL activities, & fidget toys included will allow scholars to manage their sensory needs in a comfortable environment.
